When I was a little girl my grandma would always do my hair every morning. She would take the time to make my hair look pretty, which almost always included cute little bows and clips. Looking back at pictures, I really appreciate that she did this for me.
Recently I had the opportunity to try out some adorable clips and bows from Bowrista. I borrowed my lovely little niece, Chesney, to model them. Like me when I was younger, Chesney has super fine, spindly, blonde hair. It is a challenge to keep anything in this kind of hair! Luckily, Deb at Bowrista realizes this can be an issue. All bows from Bowrista are handmade . They come on fully lined clips with non-slip liners to ensure they will fit in the finest hair. The ribbon ends are also heat treated to prevent fraying.
This is my niece, Chesney, a very pleased customer.
Each bow is custom made by hand with a personal touch.
Look at how adorable!
I think Chesney was the perfect model for this. Can you tell she likes bows?
These definitely pass the fine hair test. They stayed in securely with no problem.
So, for my review I give these products an A+ for sure! Anyone looking for fashionable, high quality, handmade bows should feel confident shopping at Bowrista. You can even request custom products for special occasions!
Interview questions:
Where are you from and a little about yourself?
My name is Debbie and I am currently in Bolingbrook, Illinois. I have been married for almost four years now and I have one daughter, Sofia, who is 17 months old. She is the reason why I started Bowrista.
When did you start making the items in your shop?
I started making hair bows about a year ago. When my daughter was an infant, I loved shopping for matching bows and headbands to wear with all of her outfits, but I found that most of the bows in boutique shops and high-end department stores were overpriced. Since I am a stay at home mom, I took it upon myself to learn how to make hair bows as a creative outlet and to save money on my daughter’s stylish accessories. I would get so many compliments from people, and after I would tell them that I made the hair bow they wanted me making bows for their girls. After many friend and family requests, I decided to start selling handmade hair bows. With the help of family, I was making lots of hair bows for customers. I had many custom requests for hair bows to match specific outfits or for spirit day at school, as well as holiday bows and party favors for little girl birthday parties. It wasn’t until this past fall that I opened up an online store selling my handmade hair bows. Since then, I have sold hundreds of bows all over North America.
How did you decide the name for your shop?
My husband deserves full credit for the name. He came up with it one night when we were brainstorming for a name.
What inspires you to create such beautiful pieces?
I think that my inspiration for the hair bows comes from shopping and seeing what is in, what colors are hot for the season, what my daughter is wearing at the moment, if there is a holiday, etc. I normally just start with one ribbon color/style and go from there adding whatever I feel makes the bow look cute and stylish. Some of my most popular hair bows were inspired by customers with custom order requests to match everything from a school sports uniform to a baby beauty pageant. Most of our bows are attached to fully lined alligator clips and have a non-slip grip attached to ensure they will fit in the finest hair. I take great pride in my handmade work and the quality of the product I am selling. I truly enjoy making hair bows for girls.
What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
At the moment, my favorite item is the Apple Green, Pink and Black Gingham Hair Bow. I did it as a custom order for a pageant, but I liked it so much I added it to the online store. This hair bow will definitely match lots of outfits, as those colors are pretty popular this season. I would say one of my other favorites this season is the Strawberry Red & Green Stacked Boutique Hair Bow.
Is there anything new you plan to add to your shop?
I recently added some headbands and ponytail holders to our collection. We also plan on adding back to school bows very soon, as well as Halloween and Fall hair bows. We also do hair bows and clips for party favors through our custom order section, but we will be adding a party favor category due to it’s popularity in the near future.
Are there any other places on the net we that we can find you?
