If your printer is anything like mine, you dread replacing the cartridges.  Not only are they very expensive, but they are big and bulky and I just don’t like dealing with them.  It makes me very choosy about what I print. Well, now my eyes have really been opened!  I was recently contacted by Preton about their ink save software.  I was invited to take the green printing quiz and I failed miserably and I have earned the badge to prove it!

After that, I was very interested in how I can participate in green printing.  I had no idea that software could make a difference.   I watched the presentation on How Preton Works, and now it all makes sense to me.  I am impressed with the pixel optimizer technology behind this ink saver software.

Preton gave me a 1 year license to try out the product.  It was extremely easy to download and now I just have a tiny icon on my toolbar.  You can choose at what percentage you would like to save ink.  From no saving up to 70%.  My biggest concern, of course, was print quality.  I am happy to report that it was not affected much at all!  I have a color printer and when I set it all the way up to 70%, I could notice that the images were a little lighter, but not the text.  If you are going to print pictures, or something that you want rich, vibrant color, I would suggest lowering the percentage.  But, for me just printing coupons and things that do not need to be perfect, it’s just right!

I have not been using the software long enough to fairly judge how often I have to replace my cartridges, that would take months.  But, after reading the customer testimonials, I am confident that I will be taking less trips to the office supply store.  Also, PretonSaver™ maintains a record of every document printed together with the cost of the consumable used and the value of the saving which it has made.  So, the info is at my fingertips!
