Fog Free Helps Every Man Shave Well Review + Giveaway

The fog free mirror from ShaveWellThe fog free hanging shaving mirror from ShaveWell is designed to hang in the shower or bathroom and as stated, provide a “fog free” reflective surface while trimming or shaving your beard. It sells on their website for $9.99, very reasonable price in my opinion. Jumping right in, my overall impression on first use is “it works!”

There are a couple caveats to the “it works” statement however. The first is, it’s critical to follow the very simple instructions that come on the mirror. When you unpack the box, both sides of the mirror look ‘covered’ and it comes with a hook with an adhesive backing that has thus far held up very well in my shower (it’s a composite wall, not tile, so smooth and flat). The mirror is extremely light – looks like a piece of 1/8″ thick acrylic with a drilled hole (for hook) and mirror surface.

Back to the instructions – which also cleverly tell you which surface you need to peel off (the one beneath the instructions). Critical to your fog-free experience is ‘warming up’ the mirror. Basically you need to run it under hot water on both sides and that’s what keeps it from fogging up. My shower is a full-bath/shower combo and I decided to mount on the far end of the shower. I warmed it up and it was fog free for my entire shave. However, I noticed 5 minutes later it had cooled off and when I grabbed it and brought it closer to the shower stream it instantly fogged. Solution: run under hot water on both sides again (an easy task when you’re in the shower).

In retrospect I probably should’ve hung the mirror below the shower head to keep it warm throughout shower, but it’s really no big deal since it’s extremely easy to pull it off the hook, re-warm and hang again. My only request would’ve been an extra hook/adhesive backing because now I’ve lost the ability to relocate it. Additionally, it really wouldn’t be great for travel (as suggested) if you need to mount it in every bathroom you stay in. You’d need a free hand to hold the mirror while in showers, or the addition of a ‘suction cup’ type hook that will easily unmount and remount as needed. I’ve NEVER had a suction cup hook that ever worked well, but this mirror is light enough that there’s a good chance it actually might – and that would lay proper claim to “great for travel.”

It works well though, and I’ll be moving my shave routine into the shower thanks to this simple and decently executed accessory.
