Stress can be linked with every major illness and this is well known.  Stress cannot be eliminated, but we can change the way we react to it.  This book consists of stories to help you learn how to manage and handle stress.

Chicken Soup for the Soul:  Say Goodbye to Stress

Chicken Soup for the Soul:  Say Goodbye to Stress is written by Dr. Jeff Brown, an instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.  Along with Liz Neporent and others, they help you learn how to manage your everyday problems – big and small.

You can ask anyone around me and they will tell you that I do not handle stress well.  I am pretty sure I was born a ball of anxiety and it’s only increased with age.  Lately I have overwhelmed myself even more and I feel like I am speeding through my life.  This book was a welcome arrival to say the least!

One of the common sense suggestions that really caught my eye was “Stop being your own worst enemy”.  I am so guilty of this.  I tend to set myself up for failure by adding way too much to my plate.  Then, when I don’t finish it all, the self-loathing kicks in.  We all know that nothing good comes with that attitude.  That’s when I start eating horribly and not taking care of myself.  That leads into a deeper downward spiral by destroying my blood sugar and overall outlook on life!  What a lovely cycle!

There are far more people that have a lot more problems and obligations than I do and I am well aware of that.  It’s all in how you react to everything and that’s what I need to work on.  Reading this book was extremely helpful.  The tips and advice are practical and inspirational.  Personally, they really motivated me to make some changes.

It seems like even more today that the entire world is in a hurry.  Everyone is rushing and not living in the present.  We all need to take a step back and get a hold of ourselves!  I suggest reading this book for starters.  Remember, you can’t have a healthy body without a healthy mind – at least that’s what I think!

This book can be found at Barnes & Noble and Amazon.com for under $10.
