I was eager to review Holiday Slow Cooker: Delicious Recipes for a Year of Hassle-Free Celebrations by Jonnie Downing. Separated into recipes for all of the holidays from New Year’s Day to Christmas and Hanukkah. I know the big food holidays are still a while out – BUT, I am already stressed out about what to make, getting it all done, making sure all the food is made great even though I work full time and do not have days to prep.
Slow Cooker Recipes for the Holidays
Oftentimes, it seems hard to pull it all together, but with a slow cooker (or now that I have this book a slow cooker or TWO) on hand, at least ONE of the dishes can be put together and left to sit a while to cook while I am speeding around my kitchen finishing the rest of the meal. Just in case you were worried about your favorite holiday, here is what Jonnie Downing covers in the book: New Year’s, Presidents’ Day, Mardi Gras, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Cinco De Mayo, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Fourth of July, Bastille Day (which now that I have recipes like Ratatouille and Squash Bisque I might start celebrating!), Oktoberfest, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah.
Even though I have a month to prepare for Thanksgiving, I think I will start practicing by getting my slow cooker out and making some turkey soup with dumplings 
. YUM!
