Graco has just introduced the My Ride 65 with Safety Surround, and I was really excited to receive one of the new My Ride 65’s for review. The Safety Surround system provides side impact protection that grows with your child.
Graco My Ride 65 with Safety Surround Protection
Now that babies are supposed to be rear facing until they are 2 years old – this allows for rear-facing up to 40lbs and from 20-65lbs for forward-facing. The Safety Surround is a side impact protection system that grows with the child as they get taller and fill up the entire seat. This is achieved with a headrest with Safety Surround Protection and it moves and removes as the child is able to fit into the Safety Surround Protection that is at the top of the seat. This seat is side impact tested in addition to meeting or exceeding all other US safety standards.
The My Ride 65 has dual cupholders, so there is room for baby zebra to have a drink and snack cup – baby zebra is quiet, but it might help our kiddo on the way quiet in the back seat if they have access to their own beverage (although, I am not so ignorant as to think it is going to stay in the holder at all times). It is equipped with the latch system and an easy to ready level indicator to help with installation. The cover is easy to remove to wash and the infant padding is super soft – I think it is like a velour or velvet or something.
My only complaint is that the car seat seems large – even when installing it, it takes up quite a bit of space in the car. It fits best in the middle of the back seat – otherwise I would have to move the seats up to make space for this car seat.
