Nutella Coffee Frappuccino Recipe

Lately I have been experimenting with frappuccino recipes. If the weather ever warms up, they are my go-to afternoon drink.

I want to have as many DIY or copycat Starbucks recipes on hand so I can save money avoiding daily trips to coffeehouses.

Ever since I made this green tea frappuccino, I have been on quite a mission.

I have heard that Starbucks has a “secret menu” that includes a Nutella Frappuccino. I have also heard that the baristas get mighty ticked when you try to order from this “secret menu.” LOL So, let’s just make our own!

I am sure that you have realized by now that I like to use the least ingredients as possible. This one only takes milk, instant vanilla pudding mix, Nutella, instant coffee, and ice.

That’s another reason I like to make frappuccinos at home — to control the ingredients. Although none of the ingredients I’m using are healthy, at least I know exactly what they are.

The Nutella frappuccino turned out to be very tasty, even a little on the rich side. I don’t know if it’s because I used instant coffee, or too much Nutella (is there such a thing?), but I might try to tone it down just a tad for next time.

It definitely wasn’t lacking flavor, that’s for sure! If you’re looking for an indulgent drink, no need to tweak. But, if you like a lighter flavor, adjust the Nutella and/or the instant coffee.

And, of course, when I go to Starbucks I order everything “skinny”, but at home I pile on the whipped cream and toppings! I don’t get me. Let’s just say it makes for better photos. 😉

There are many ways to lighten the calorie load in this beverage. Use unsweetened almond milk, opt for sugar-free vanilla pudding, and skip the whipped cream and toppings.

You could also pour the drink into two smaller glasses to share with a friend. The Nutella provides a pretty big flavor boost, so I don’t think using lower fat versions of the other ingredients will hurt the taste much.

Will make a difference if I omit the instant coffee? This drink would be for my 8 y/o. He has not experienced a caffeine drink yet.

This looks delicious, I can't wait to try it. Another flavor you should try is dark chocolate, or mint chocolate chip ( I have no idea how you would make that). Thank you for sharing this yummy recipe.
