Chewable Flea and Tick 12 Week Protection is Here

Chewable flea and tick prevention for dogs is a reality. We all know how important it is to give our furry buds their monthly preventative meds. Mine are going to be absolutely thrilled to add on another chewable. This post is sponsored by Bravecto® (Fluralaner) and the BlogPaws® Pet Influencer Network™. I am being compensated to help share information about BRAVECTO. But we only share information we feel is relevant to our readers. If you are a dog owner, I am sure I do not need to explain the dangers of fleas and ticks. These nasty bugs are not just a nuisance; they are a real danger to your animals. Around here in the Chicago suburbs, if you skip your flea and tick prevention, you are seriously asking for trouble. I have a friend who’s dog contracted lyme disease due to her opting out of prevention. My sister and I just saw a tick in her office. If you follow either of us on Snapchat, you were privy to that horror show. The threat is real, people.

People are busy and months tend to fly by like weeks. Especially in the summer when we are outside playing with our dogs, the time seems to go by even faster. If you skip a monthly dose or are even a few days late, you are leaving a vulnerable gap in which fleas and ticks can infest. That’s another bonus about BRAVECTO® – it’s given every 12 weeks*! That’s quarterly instead of monthly if you don’t like math.

*BRAVECTO kills fleas, prevents flea infestations, and kills ticks (black-legged tick, American dog tick, and brown dog tick) for 12 weeks. BRAVECTO also kills lone star ticks for 8 weeks.

BRAVECTO works quickly to start killing fleas within two hours and kills 100% of them within twelve hours. It’s FDA approved, but only available from your veterinarian. The dosage is based on weight, so Bravecto is not an option for puppies under six months since their weight changes too rapidly. Discuss all of your options with your vet. I can guess my vet will be all about this since I know she has a hard time getting people to stick with monthly doses.

It is our job as pet parents to protect our animals. Please take this seriously no matter where you live. My vet recommends flea and tick prevention year round and no matter what the weather is like. I do not like to take chances when it comes to my beloved creatures and their health. It’s not like you see fleas and ticks running around, so it’s out of sight, out of mind. Well, unless you are at my sister’s office, apparently. I still have the creeps from that. In any case, know that the tiny bloodsuckers are out there and plotting an attack.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: The most common adverse reactions recorded in clinical trials were vomiting, decreased appetite, diarrhea, lethargy, polydipsia, and flatulence. BRAVECTO has not been shown to be effective for 12-weeks’ duration in puppies less than 6 months of age. BRAVECTO is not effective against lone star ticks beyond 8 weeks after dosing.

Ask your vet about BRAVECTO® chewable flea and tick prevention.

I would definitely worry about fleas and ticks if I had a dog. I will let my sister know about this product who has two dogs.

That is great that this prevention comes in a pill form. I always hated putting those drops on the back of my dogs neck.

Fleas are the worst to deal with!! This sounds like great protection for fleas, it can be so hard to find good products that work effectively.

I just hate ticks! I've already had one this year. Definitely no fun at all.
